Who Run the World? Lesbians! More Romance Novels to Read
Let's spread some love to other new authors!
Let’s go Lesbians!
Many of you know already - but I joined an author’s promotion website to spread the word on this personal project of mine. For the month of March I joined 12 different promotions. I’m very thankful that I was able to reach such an audience like this because of those promotions.
Out of curiosity, I started running the numbers on which promotions it was that most of you joined me from. I check all the numbers and stuff and… most of you are lesbian women.
I laughed when the numbers registered in my head. Yeah, we attracted each other, huh?
Pfft.
Hello fellow lesbians.

Promotions Backstory
Of the twelve promotions I joined the three that drove the most to you all were: “March LQBTQ Freebies”, “Lead Women in Romance”, and “Marching Into Love”. At first, I was a little confused. The prequel story that is used for the promotions has a very, very, VERY simple cover. In fact, it cost me $10. (A waste of money in hindsight but nothing can be done). So why was my book being clicked on so much in these promotions?
Reason #1: These were big promotions, several authors were included in each one of these and I was fully intimidated by how many of them were pretty well established. Simply put, there were lots of authors bringing in their fanbase to read the romance stories.
Reason #2: My book does not have a shirtless man on the cover. I’m convinced some of you were motivated to click on my story for that singular reason alone.
Of the twelve promotions I joined, two dropped me. One was because I wasn’t pulling my weight in bringing in new readers/getting very little attention on my story. I don’t blame them for removing me, I really was behind in comparison to the others.
The second one removed me because they didn’t like the cover or my author name. At least, that’s why I think it was removed. The reasons given were, “Cover, author name, not sure if romantasy”. Again, don’t blame them. My cover and blurb alone really don’t say anything about this story being romantasy, so I have no anger towards that decision. And again, the cover was $10.
Why I wrote it
My original intention, to be honest, was not to depict a lesbian relationship. Not to say that I regret this decision, or that it was done purely for marketing purposes. The main story, “How Can I Love You Too?”, features a straight relationship. This is because the influence was written by straight authors, and I felt not need to change this. The main story does contain a homosexual relationship, which was again influenced by the source material. This prequel novella that was written, is not influenced by the work of others. At least not directly.
I didn’t have the genders decided when I started my brainstorming session, I was just letting the ideas spin around in my head. Right when I was about to start writing I decided to make it a straight couple. And then I paused.
Why?
Why a straight couple? Ultimately, it made no difference to the story what “kind” of relationship this was. Straight, gay, non conforming, it didn’t play any major role in the story. So why did I myself default to straight? Then I thought back to the story, and to myself. And I made it two women instead.
I based Lynx off of a woman I knew personally. And our relationship did not have a happy ending. It’s nothing intense like this story, we never even held hands. I feel that making this story lesbian really was a benefit to the larger picture of the world. The issue isn’t really that they’re both women, the issue is that Amelia didn’t have faith in a future with Lynx.
Which is heartbreaking, across all relationships.
That is to say…
I’m going to shift my marketing method. There is a real lack of lesbian literature, especially when compared to the demand. I want to spread this story out to those in the LGBTQ sphere, and join more queer promotions. There aren’t many on the list for April, but I can’t back down from promoting.

I hated the cover I had so much that I opened up Canva, typed in “romance cover”, and then grabbed two copyright free images and slapped them together to make this. And honestly? This does a better job of getting the message across than my previously (paid) cover did.
I’m still going to try out the romantasy spaces. Maybe altering my blurb a little to give a deeper sense of whimsical. We will see what happens. I have joined seven promotions for the month of April. All but one of them are free promotions, and all are romances. I am going to link each of these promotions below. Anyone who is interested in free romance stories can go ahead and give a click to read some.
Promotions!
I’m partnered up with an author for this month - Nikki Mirror. We’re both a little new to this so we’re here to support each other! I’m going to show you guys this author’s book cover and give a little blurb on what it’s about!

A story featuring a teacher who was cursed nine years ago to have golden cracks in his skin. A student joins the school, someone who has heard of his struggles and has the power to help him. They go on a quest to heal him despite being strangers. I wonder what happens next?
I gave this book a read- don’t want to recommend something without first seeing what it’s made of. It was a really quick read, 50 pages. The start is a little slow, but the prose is flowery and descriptive. I wonder if this will one day be extended into a larger story, or be included in a series or something. This is this author’s first book, so I’m excited to see what they do next!
If you’re interested, you can go ahead and see the book here.
Aside from that! I have a few other promotions that I wanted to send your way. These ones are each group promotions, meaning there are several books on each list! So make sure to look around for one that catches your eye.

What’s to Come From Me
I have a few personal stories I can share. Tales from work, failures in love, lessons I gained from writing and who I consider my teachers. Fill in the void and get you guys interested in me as a storyteller. I have several ideas swimming around in my head that I’ll get on paper some day soon.
11 months remaining until release date, but I promise it’s all worth the wait! I don’t want to release a sub-par book, and I’m doing all that I can to ensure that outcome. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
