Writing speed isn't all there is to making a story come to life. Let's see how I've changed as a writer over the years.

Let’s get into it
Fifth grade into Sixth grade summer vacation - I’m poor. No one wants to tell a child, “you’re just above the poverty line”, but when we couldn’t even afford to go to the free beach an hour away I kinda figured it out.
For my entire public education life, I have spent summer vacations doing… nothing. When you’re a kid you can fill the time easily. Legos, books, stuff like that. Not tweens! Tweens needs some more stimulation! And my chosen path - was typing.
I decided, “Why don’t I just spend the entire day writing?”
For that entire summer vacation, I was going ham on the family laptop. We had a family computer, so everyone just used that instead. Unofficially, the laptop was mine. Each morning after breakfast I would open up Word, pick a story, or start a new one, and just type away. I would plug in headphones, leaving one ear open in case someone called me, and then get in the “zone”.
I call it the “zone”. I’ve also heard it get called “flow”, “manic episode” or “disassociating”.
I would type at least five hours a day. Not exaggerating. If summer vacation was around 90 or so days, I spent 85 of those typing for at least 5 hours each day. Some days, I would do much much more.
