I need your help! I don't know what I'm doing!
Tell me which you like better, I need the feedback
The cover a book is one of the MOST important things about a novel. Scratch that, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT part. There is no possible way to get the attention of others, without a cover that demands that attention. It doesn’t matter how absolutely GENUIS a book can be between the covers if no one bothers to stop to open it up because the cover is ugly.
“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.
Hate to break it to you Elementary School English teacher, but my time on Wattpad has shown me that that is a LIE. The quality of the cover is a direct reflection of the quality of the book itself, rarely has that ever not been true.
I have examples where, obviously, a really good cover was hiding a poorly written mess, or an interesting title held a boring story to trudge through. BUT! That nice cover, and nice title, got me to put money down and get that book. As far as the author’s are concerned, they made their money back.
Here is where the problem comes in- I can’t draw. I’ve tried. I know it takes practice to be able to even draw something semi-good, but I still can never get past the “I suck at everything” stage. Besides, I’m a writer. I’m a story teller. That’s a skill I’ve been developing for years, I feel happier building that up than trying to form a new skill from the ground up.
